Carpell was also winner in the category Distinguished Sports Facilities for Gerard Filion Secondary School and York Lions Stadium, Toronto.
Carpell completed the 8-lane competition level track at Gérard Filion Secondary School November, 2015. The polyurethane, sandwich system Stobitan SW was applied in 4 stages, commencing with an excellent, perfectly level asphalt base requiring highly precise measurements for the thickness.
This was followed by the application of black rubber granules mixed with a polyurethane binder using an SMG paver and again this required very precise measurements for the thickness of the layer. The surface was sealed with coloured sealer to prevent water penetration. The topcoat comprised a 2-part component, polyurethane binder and coloured granules pitched on the liquid surface to form a very durable and comfortable surface. Finally, the line marking was applied to complete the track.
Unprecedented cold weather created some delays in product drying times. However, our team met this challenge with adjustments to work schedules and task allocation and the track was completed on time.
The 4th in Canada to receive Class-1 certification from the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) the Gérald Filion track is the 1st in North America for a Stobitan SW Sandwich System running track. Stobitan SW track systems are manufactured by Stockmeier Urethanes read more
