Accessible baseball fields provide safe and user-friendly surfaces for young players with cognitive or physical limitations. They include features such as wheelchair-friendly surfaces and easy access dugouts. Carpell installed the first purpose-built Miracle Field in Canada for the Miracle League Association in Ottawa 2015, followed shortly after with a second for the Miracle League of Amherstburg, On. In 2020 Carpell completed the Field of Ability at Veterans Park in Belleville, On as well as Toronto's first accessible baseball diamond at Highview Park. Carpell also resurfaced the adjoining playgrounds at the Ottawa Miracle League site and Highview Park.
Carpell's Eco 12 mm surfacing facilitates mobility enabling young people, regardless of their level of physical skills, to enjoy baseball. Poured-in-place it is a single layer of pure colored EPDM granules mixed with eco-friendly polyurethane. A safe and durable surface for both junior baseball pitches and playgrounds!
The Miracle League organization provides special-needs children, young adults and adults with the opportunity to play the game of baseball (and other sports) on a purpose-built, Miracle Field.
Accessible field projects are made possible through grants and donations from local municipalities, community organizations, business and individuals as well as major sponsors such as the Jays Care Foundation, Kraft Heinz Project play, CIBC and Credit Unions to name a few.
