Carpell Surfaces inc., a Canadian leader in the installation of synthetic sports surfaces, today announced its acquisition by two Quebec entrepreneurs, Eric Gervais and Martin Ricard. The two co-shareholders acquired the business from founding President and CEO, Paul Caron.
We are very proud to announce that we have been awarded the 2020 Outdoor Track Facility of the Year by the American Sports Builders Association ( ABSA) for the installation at l'Université de Sherbrooke, Quebec. ASBA regroups builders and suppliers of materials for athletic facilities and presents awards each year to facilities built by its members that best exemplify design and construction excellence. Completed end of 2019, Carpell achieved World Athletics Class-1certification (International Association of Athletics Federations) for the Mondo Super X 720 track.

There is an increasing demand by urban communities, parks and recreation departments, schools, and child daycare centers for high-quality, safe synthetic turf mini-soccer pitches. We use the same top-quality, products for our mini-soccer fields as for our large soccer fields. Carpell is installing an Xtreme Turf DX60 field at Collège St-Sacrement, Québec. A second with Xtreme Turf DXF60 plus Ecofill at Parc Toussaint-L'ouverture, Montreal and a third in Toronto at Perth Avenue Junior Public School with Xtreme Turf F45 plus Envirofill.
Carpell is installing Stobitan SC athletic tracks for two Catholic high schools in the Ottawa Valley, Bishop Smith Catholic Secondary School in Pembroke, and St-Joseph Catholic Secondary School in Renfrew. Manufactured by Stockmeier, Stobitan SC is a system comprised of a recycled rubber base layer topped with a coloured sprayed coat of polyurethane and fine EPDM granules. A soft and comfortable running surface that is permeable, spike resistant as well as durable. Ideal for schools, it's an eco-friendly and economical product that meets IAAF requirements.
The Hamilton public school board budgeted $2 million for a new synthetic turf field at Ancaster High Secondary School. Carpell will supply and install Xtreme Turf DXF60, a superior quality product that reduces maintenance requirements and is designed to perform in Canadian weather conditions, therefore, extending the playing season for students and groups renting the field after school hours.
The new synthetic soccer and football field at L'école secondaire Dalbé-Viau in Montreal will feature Xtreme turf D60. It will serve more than 1,000 students from Dalbé-Viau high school and approximately 1,350 students from Sainte-Anne College as well as 40,000 residents of the borough of Lachine.
Raymond Field is home to a range of Acadia University and community soccer and football teams. The field was converted to an artificial surface in 2008 and features roofed stadium seating. The surface will be upgraded with Act Global's high-performance Xtreme Turf D60 and certified FIFA.
Following a rigorous selection process, the University of Saskatchewan chose Carpell Surfaces to supply and install the synthetic football surface at Griffiths Stadium. The new Xtreme Turf D50 SBR / S23D surface uses a superior wear resistant fiber that extends the life expectancy of the installation. The 23mm Schmitz ProPlay pad offers excellent shock absorption and maximum drainage. The project, which includes new turf and upgraded lighting, was aided by $3.14 million in funding from the provincial government.
We were selected to replace two synthetic grass tennis courts at Alcide-Reid Park. Mondo's NSF 6615 is a certified product by the ITF (international tennis federation).The new surface tops a granular foundation that provides excellent vertical drainage. The park adjoins the grounds of the Carrefour Kénogami Community Center and is close to Kénogami stadium, Kénogami high school, and Kénogami sports pavilion.
This new park and community centre located in Mississauga will feature a 25-metre, six lane pool and triple gymnasium, two tournament-level sports fields, a playground, spray pad, and outdoor fitness equipment. Le product for the synthetic fields is Xtreme Turf DX45 d'Act Global with a Schmitz ProPlay 20mm pad and Ecofill Rebound granules from Mondo. One of the two fields will be covered though the winter months with a removable dome.
It is with great pride that Carpell has received official certification CLASS 1 from the World Athletics (IAAF) for the installation of a Mondo Super X 720 athletics track at Université de Sherbrooke, Qc, Canada. The facility meets the highest standards and is suitable for hosting Olympic and other top-tier competitions.
Construction of a high-performance athletics track at the Odyssée-des-Jeunes High School is underway. The track will serve for competitions during the 2021 Quebec Games, hosted by the City of Laval, national and international events, as well as a training site for members of the Club d'Athlétisme Dynamique de Laval. The 400m, eight-lane track is surfaced with Stobitan SW and will meet World Athletics (IAAF) standards.
As part of a $1.25 million upgrade project for the school's buildings and sports facilities, the running track will soon have a new high-end, eco-friendly surface. Carpell will supply and install the new Stobitan SW athletics track this summer.
Construction progresses on Simcoe County District School Board's ambitious project at South Barrie Secondary School. A brand new state-of-art building surrounded by a park, with sports facilities that will include a multisports synthetic field, to be supplied and installed by Carpell Surfaces. The product is Xtreme Turf DX45 with a Schmitz ProPlay pad.
Carpell is fulfilling two contracts to install accessible baseball diamonds with safety surfacing in Ontario. A junior-sized, hardball diamond at Parkdale Park, Belleville, and the second at Highview Park, Toronto. Carpell's eco-friendly, poured-in-place, rubber surfacing is ideal for these projects. It provides a safe and durable surface for both junior baseball fields, and playgrounds.
The City of Mississauga, in partnership with Peel District School Board (PDSB), selected Carpell to upgrade their sports field and running track. The multisport field was completed end of 2018 and certified FIFA Quality. Installation of the new, 8-lane athletics track, is scheduled for the end of August. The high-performance Stobitan SW surface will meet IAAF standards.
The Rosemont drinking water reservoir, was built in the 1960s and decommissioned 20 years later. The reconstruction of the reservoir, pumping station, water supply tunnels, and reservoir's roof was completed in several phases over a period of five years. Following extensive waterproofing work and drainage of the reservoir's roof, Carpell Surfaces is currently installing a Mondo Super X 720, international standards athletics track at site located in Desmarteau park.
2019, Carpell completed the installation of two sports fields at Bill Crothers High School, a school specializing in athletics. In 2020, the resurfacing of their athletics track with a high-end polyurethane Stobitan SW surface manufactured by Stockmeier Urethanes will be underway.
Work to install a Stobitan SW polyurethane running track is scheduled to begin in September at Holy Cross Secondary School in Peterborough. When completed, the new eight-lane track will have an innovative system of LED lights to increase the usage time.
